JR was born April 23, 1965 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Faustino Vidro Sr and Matilde Ramos — the eldest of two children.
JR grew up splitting his time between Puerto Rico and Connecticut. He studied engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce before commencing a career as a civil engineer. His interest and skill in architecture served him well for many years, culminating in the founding of his own business, Richport Associates, in 2016.
Outside of work, JR had a passion for music, travel, and spending quality time with loved ones. Many wonderful memories were made on family vacations and through collecting albums and memorabilia from salsa legends. In his later years, he began making regular pilgrimages to Spain to hike El Camino de Santiago — a journey that brought him peace and joy.
JR is survived by his loving wife and partner of 32 years, Elizabeth, their two children and two grandchildren. His memory will be forever cherished by his younger sister, Carmen Vidro, and her family as well as countless family, friends, and loved ones.
A viewing will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, FL on Saturday, August 9 at 1pm. The family asks that donations be made to JR’s Heavenly Walk fund instead of sending flowers or other gifts.
