George Washington Bates III

George Washington Bates III, 44 of Ocala, Florida passed away on June 9, 2024 in the care of Hospice. George was born in Ocala, Florida to James and Gladys Bates on October 30, 1979. He was the youngest of 4, the only boy, and the baby of the family. He loved baseball and the Florida Gators. He spent many years in masonry and took pride in his skill. George was a gentle giant with a big heart; always helping others in any way possible. He kept a positive and upbeat attitude throughout his life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by many.

George is survived by his children Alivia and Matthias, his sisters, Angela (Kevin) Kleine, Amy (Patrick) Shannon, and Amanda Potts; nephews Tyler and Hayden Kleine, Jack and Colby Shannon, Dakotah Potts and two great nephews Nolan and Emmet Potts; nieces Lauren Kleine, Madison and Muriel Potts. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Gladys Bates, son Andrew and brother-in-law Paul Potts.

George was laid to rest next to our mother, whom he loved dearly at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on June 14, 2024 in a private ceremony with Reverend Jason Varnum officiating. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family, friends, and the nurses at Advent and Hospice for their loving and compassionate care during his final days.
