Gerald “Gerry” Lucio Rosas left us on April 13, 2017, after a brief illness at the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on November 27, 1946 in Oak Creek, Colorado to Lucio and Elvira Rosas who preceded him in death.
Gerry obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and Vigil member in the Order of the Arrow. At the age of 16, he was the youngest person to receive that honor in the State of Wyoming. He played football and wrestled in high school and later coached youth football. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Susan Bowen. Together they raised three amazing sons.
Gerry worked as a Nuclear Startup Syste4m Engineer for more than 30 years. This provided his family the opportunity to move throughout the United States. Gerry’s boys and his wife were his entire world. After he retired, Gerry and Sue settled in Citra, Florida in 2009 where they enjoyed raising horses and breeding dachshund puppies
Gerry is survived by his loving wife Sue of Citra, FL, his three sons, Scott (Amy) Rosas of Cortland, NY, Jeff (Gina) Rosas of Pembroke, MA, Don (Veronica) Rosas of Redondo Beach, CA, and his nine grandchildren Dylan, Isabella, Gabrielle, Sofia, Tristan, Nathaniel, Matthew, Andrew, and Emma.
