Joan Marie Huber, age 74, of Del Webb (Summerfield), Florida passed away June 24, 2017. Joan was born in Newark NJ to the late Alfred and Marie Ricciardi. She grew up in Irvington, NJ where she graduated from Archbishop Walsh High School. She was active as co-captain of the cheerleading squad and yearbook editor. She was a Montclair State University Panzer School graduate. It was there that she was lovingly referred to by her classmates as TK (“Tough Kid”) for her strength and tenacity despite her small stature.
Joan was married to her loving husband, Jack, for 53 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She had a gift of making everyone feel comfortable and welcomed in her home. She loved to cook and host dinner parties, holidays, celebrations and even when there was no reason to celebrate, she was always happy when everyone cleaned their plate.
She and Jack raised their family in Randolph, NJ where she was employed as the receptionist at the Township of Randolph. She and Jack moved to Florida in 2003 where they happily settled into retirement. Joan took advantage of many activities in her later years including synchronized swimming as a Dolphinette, dancing with Rhythm n’ Notes, and playing Mahjong, Samba, and countless card games with her many friends. She was also a merciless Scrabble player who enjoyed competing with her daughters…never just for fun, always for money.
Joan is lovingly survived by her husband Jack, daughters; Maria Huber, Nancy (Tim) Cawley, Jeanne (Jessica Davis) Huber and Theresa (Rob) Russo. 7 grandchildren; Devon, Paige, Jack, Brooke, Katie, Matthew and Kira. She is also survived by her brother Al (Judy) Ricciardi as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Wednesday June 28, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, Florida.
