

Melvin S Haney, age 87, of Summerfield, passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at the Tuscany House. He was born on July 10, 1925 in Racine, WI a son to the late Stanley and Louise (Henke) Haney, Sr. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Wilma and a sister and brother-in-law Faye and Gil Skovsted. Melvin was a WWII US Coast Guard veteran, and worked as a Service Manager at Sears in Rockford, IL for 25 years. He also worked and enjoyed his employment at the Ace Hardwares in Weirsdale and Fruitland Park.His family remember his love for building models ships, working with his hands, fixing things, and mastering the computer. He enjoyed traveling in an RV, Coast Guard reunions, and cruising with Wilma. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children and their spouses, Robert and Mary Jo Haney of Rockford, IL, Martin and Sandra Haney of Belleview, Lawrence and Kathleen Haney of Fruitland Park, Vicki and Steven Swanson of Summerfield, Richard and Bonnie Haney of Aurora, CO, three brothers and their wives, Lyle and Sylvia Haney of West Plaines, MO, Stanley and Kay Haney, Jr. of Racine, WI, Gerald and Sophie Haney in Hayward, WI, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lila Lange of Summerfield, Marie and Don Lange of Huntley, IL, Carol Cuccia of Arlington, VA, Bill and Barbara Lange of Delavin, WI, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday August 12, 2012 at 2:00pm with visitation for half an hour before at the Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or to the Disabled American Veterans. Forest Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Haney.
