

Richard (“Dick”) Thomas Sloane passed away August 3, 2015, at the Villages Hospital, The Villages, Florida. He was born October 31, 1935, in Troy, New York to the late Richard Carl and Josephine Sloane, is survived by a sister, Mary Alice Van Auken of North Greenbush, NY.
Dick is survived by his wife Joan Ann (nee Grant), currently of Summerfield, Florida, formally of Rensselaer, New York to whom he was eternally devoted for 58 years.
He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Elaine Randall of Summerfield, Florida, Catherine Anne of Hudson Falls, New York, and Carolyn Mary of Naperville, Illinois.
He is also survived by two grandsons and one granddaughter, Richard, Christopher and Jennifer Randall (fiancée Jonathan Casey) He leaves six nephews James T., Richard, Robert, John, Thomas and Stephen Van Auken, and two nieces Mary Ann Laurin and Elizabeth Cannistraci.
Dick graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy, NY in 1953. He resided in Saratoga Springs and worked in Ballston Spa before moving to Milford, CT where he worked at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT and then US Tobacco in Greenwich, CT.
Dick was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and very devoted to his Roman Catholic Faith, most recently at St. Mark The Evangelist in Summerfield, FL.
Dick and Joan retired to Spruce Creek Del Webb in Summerfield, Florida where he enjoyed golf, the gym, and tending to his yard.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34480 (352) 622-818. A brief non-denominational service will begin at 4:00, with a celebration of Dick’s life.
A traditional mass service to bless Dick’s ashes will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 10 am at St. Mark The Evangelist, 7081 SE Hwy 42, Summerfield, FL (352) 347-9317. Inurnment will follow at noon at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, 5740 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34480
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
