She is survived by her daughters Blair Miner Kendall, Esq. and husband Scott Reif, Esq. of Mammoth Lakes, CA, Lyle Ann Kendall and husband Kenneth Chamlin, Esq. of Little Silver, NJ, grandsons Kingston Reif (Laura), Lawson Reif, Benjamin Molinari (Melissa) and great grandchildren Everly Blair Reif, Adaline Rose Reif, Ezra Renn Molinari and Clara Allen Molinari, and devoted companion of thirty-five years, Idalina Leal. Predeceasing Barbara was her son Scott Kendall of Red Bank and brother Harvey Miner.
Barbara and Allen were Red Bank High School sweethearts where they sustained a long, respected life within the Red Bank community. She was an over fifty- year member and benefactor of Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson, over fifty-year member of Hollywood Golf Club, Deal, longtime member of Elberon Bathing Club, and former member of The Landings Club, Savannah, GA where Barbara and Allen wintered for decades. Barbara was a founder and board member of the Monmouth Museum, Lincroft.
For those who knew her it is an understatement to say that she lived a lifetime with a no filter policy. She will be remembered by countless people whom she no doubt offended fearing her sass while admiring her class. The Grande Dame of her family, and the keeper of her grounds that were affectionally referred to as Versailles. Barbara’s mantra was style not fashion and up until her death, she remained a stunning example of aging with beauty and style.
In her younger years Barbara could be seen on the golf course and downhill skiing repeatedly probing “Allen, Blair, Lyle, how do I look!”. The family tempted to print business cards: Barbara Kendall, EXPERT. She was an avid bridge player, self-proclaimed literary editor, film critic, horticulturist, and NFL aficionado.
Known to her family as Bwana Miner Kendall, she had a great run and will be profoundly missed.
Donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to Riverview Medical Center Foundation, Nursing Education.
Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, are in charge of arrangements.
