

Howard Bodner, 75, of Lincroft passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He is survived by his high school sweet heart and wife of 53 years, Sheila Bodner(nee Potter), 4 children, Carolyn Bodner of Highland Park, NJ, Janet Bodner and her husband Brian Cawley of Bernardsville, NJ, Daniel Bodner and his wife Kimberly of Marlboro, NJ and Jeffrey Bodner and his wife Melanie of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. He is also survived by his 6 beautiful grandchildren whom he loved and indulged –Natalie, Maxwell, Jonathan, Timmy, Cooper and Ellie.
Howard was born in Rochester NY and predeceased by his parents Max and Bess Bodner(nee Lippman). He is also survived by his sister Jacqueline Bodner of Amherst MA and brother George Bodner of West Lafayette, IN.
Howard graduated from Cornell University in 1967 with a PH.D in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Bell Laboratories/ATT his entire career in Lincroft, Holmdel and Whippany, retiring in the 90’s.
A member of the Monmouth Reform Temple in Tinton Falls NJ, he had served in several roles as former Board Member and Youth Group Leader. He loved to give his time to his children and was frequently seen on the Lincroft fields coaching softball and soccer when they were young.
Howard was a model train enthusiast and avid gardener. He was a former member of the Pine Creek Railroad Club and had spent many hours creating model train layouts in his home with his son. He is also a recognized graduate of the Rutgers Master Gardener program and was an active member in the Monmouth Club until his passing. In the past years he collaborated on building a garden to feed the hungry at Monmouth Reform Temple and other organizations.
Howard loved to travel with his wife Sheila and recently enjoyed trips to Israel, Italy, Greece and the Caribbean.
Funeral Services are under the direction of Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, NJ. Services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Monmouth Reform Temple, Tinton Falls, NJ at 11am. Burial will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, NJ. The family will be receiving friends at the Bodner Residence, 14 Turnberry Drive, Lincroft, NJ Friday after the burial, Saturday from 3-8pm and Sunday from 1-5PM.
