Jay Evan Teitelbaum passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 10, 2023 at the age of 61. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Jackson, NJ, Jay raised his family in Holmdel and more recently lived in Manahawkin.
Everyone who ever met Jay adored him - he was a giant-hearted gem of a human being - kind, generous, loving, and hard working. He always had a smile on his face, his arms out to hug, and a hand to help anyone in need. He loved his family and friends beyond measure. He was devoted to his dogs, was a life-long soccer player and coach, and loved traveling. If he had a vice, it was his addiction to shopping. What made Jay happy was making other people happy - and he succeeded in doing that for the people around him every day. The world has lost a truly great man.
Jay is predeceased by his father, Bernard Teitelbaum. He is survived by his wife Betsy, his one true love, and his beloved children, Evan and Kayla; his adoring parents, Wendy and Jerry Marks; his best friend and brother, Seth and his wife Susan; sister Stephanie Marks and her husband Jonathan Zellan; sister Emily Kirshenbaum and her husband Andrew; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda & Roger Mueller, Christine & Bob Landis, and Michael McGee; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
Donations can be made in Jay’s memory to U.S. Soccer Foundation (https://ussoccerfoundation.org/about/) or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).
