

Louis N. Holzman of Lincroft, NJ—a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died on May 7, 2016. He was 88. He leaves behind Doris, his devoted wife of more than 65 years. He was preceded in death by his son Michael, and lives on in Michael’s wife Carmen and their daughter Emily, a son Lawrence Holzman and his wife Elizabeth, and their daughters Miriam and Naomi of Philadelphia, PA, and a son Andrew Holzman and his wife Rhiannon Woolwich-Holzman of Arlington, VT.
Louis was the consummate engineer: he was an electrical engineer who graduated with a BSEE from the Moore School of the University of Pennsylvania and a MSEE from New York University. He spent a career at Bell Laboratories, where he played an important role in developing the computer modem and other critical components of modern telecommunications. He loved his wife and was a dedicated role model for his sons, conveying his love of nature and science, great music, and photography. He taught his sons that there is nothing that cannot be built or fixed as long as one has the right tools.
Memorial services will be held at Monmouth Reform Temple, Tinton Falls, NJ on Monday, May 9 at 2:30 PM. Shiva will be observed from 5-7 PM, 4 High Point Road, Lincroft NJ.
