He was born in Philadelphia, PA and lived in Philadelphia for 21 years before moving to Ocean Township 51 years ago.
Mr. Sherlis was an Army Veteran.
Melvin was the owner of Yesteryear, a Antiques and Collectables business for 25 years before he retired 15 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Bette of 49 years; his son and daughter-in-law Stuart and Gigliola of Wall, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law Michele and Dan Langdon of Lincroft, NJ; his two sisters, Sheila Alper of El Paso , TX and Estelle Pinkus of Atlantic City, NJ; his four grandchildren, Matthew and Grace Langdon and Rachel and Lauren Sherlis.
Services are 12:00pm Wednesday at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Kings Hwy. 35, Ocean Twp, NJ.
