

He was a graduate of Ocean Township high school and the Culinary Institute in New Haven, Conn. He served in the Army as a Medic in South Korea for 2 years after which he returned home and worked in the Deal Post Office for the next 30 years where he maintained numerous friendships with the local community. Michael was a lifelong member of the West End community residing for over 30 years at the Chalet condominiums where he served on the Board of Trustees for the association. He was very appreciative of the support he received from the business community of West End during his illness, especially his favorite place, The Mix, where he enjoyed time spent having his wine and talking with many other patrons. Mike enjoyed travel, skiing, running, biking, and swimming and continued with his swimming and walking during his illness. He was also an amateur photographer taking wonderful pictures along the Jersey Shore.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Murray Stokhamer and is survived by his mother, Golda Stokhamer of Tinton Falls, his sister Judith Chaiet and her husband Paul of Oceanport, His brothers David Stokhamer and his fiancée Diane Goodman of Wall Township and Steven Stokhamer and his wife Susan of Ocean Township, nieces Allison Baker of Maryland, Jessica Stokhamer of Wall, Kristina and Kimberly Stokhamer of Ocean Township; nephews Marc Chaiet of California and Brad Stokhamer of Hoboken, he is also survived by four grand nephews and two grand nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Sunday November 30th, 2014 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center, Holiday Express, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
