Born in Long Branch, NJ, on February 22, 1956, Stephen is the son of Herman and Lillian Altschuler. He graduated Ocean Township High School in 1974 and attended Brookdale Community College.
Stephen was a factory assembly worker. He was also a cinema/theater attendant.
Stephen enjoyed: oldies music, his pet box turtles, and watching the Mets. He also enjoyed collecting: stamps, coins, and postcards.
Stephen is survived by his sister Bonnie Darnowsky (Steve) and nephews Randy and David. He is predeceased by parents Herman and Lillian Altschuler.
The family wants to thank the staff at Bayshore Medical Center for keeping Stephen comfortable during his final days.
A funeral service will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, located at 2130 Highway 35, Ocean, NJ, 07712, on December 21, 2025. The service will begin at 11:00 am and conclude at 11:45 am.
Following the funeral service, a committal service will take place at Chesed Shel Ames Hebrew Cemetery, 2202 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ, 07753, on December 21, 2025, from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm.
