

Roger Lee Morgan, 67, went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 14 2014, following a short illness. Born April 30, 1947 in Simon, he was the son of the late Azzie Morgan and Martha Morgan of Simon. Roger was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Azzie Morgan Jr., Rodney Morgan, Ronald Morgan, and Larry Morgan, and one sister, Lorine Morgan. Those left to cherish his memory are, his companion, Brenda Ellis of Pineville; his daughter Tammy Brown of Cedar Creek; son Michael Morgan of Simon; grandchildren Christopher Brown of Beckley, Ian Brown of Cedar Creek, Michael Morgan Jr. and Nicholas Morgan both of Ravencliff and Chelsea Morgan; four brothers, Thomas Morgan of Simon, Jackie Morgan of Cedar Creek, William Morgan of Lillyhaven and Randal Morgan of New Richmond; Three sisters, Helen Cline of Simon, Maylee Maynard and Mina Elkins of High Point NC; four half-sisters; Estern Osborne of Simon, Arletta Shrewsbury, Linda Kennedy, Grace Portland all of Princeton; six half-brothers, Doug Cline, William Cline, Bill Cline, Kenny Cline, and Lloyd Cline all of Simon and Bob Cline of Brenton; a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and called him their favorite Uncle and many friends. A celebration of Roger’s life will be at 2 pm Tuesday, November 18, at the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Blankenship and Rev. Jay Blankenship officiating. Roger will be laid to rest in the Milty Morgan Cemetery at Simon. Friends may call Monday, November 17, from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Brown, Michael Morgan Jr., Gregory Prince, nephews, JD Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Timmy Morgan, Cody Morgan and William Morgan.
