

Zelda M. Sullivan, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home. She was born May 25, 1928 in Jesse, WV to the late Curtis and Murlie Cook Stewart. She was a member of Matheny Church of God. She was a wonderful seamstress for many years and enjoyed working with her flowers outdoors. She loved singing, and at one time was a member of “The Matheny Gospel Trio” with special cousins, Susie Cook and Eula Terry. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty eight years, Charles E. “Ed” Sullivan; an infant son, Charles E. Sullivan, Jr; and a grandson, Brian Paul Sullivan; sisters: Lala Graham, Hallie “Bet” Phillips and Virginia “Gin” Daniel; and brothers: Vern, Weldon “Bub”, Oza, Stacy, Daniel “Dick” and Lacy Stewart. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Brenda Roles and her husband, Reggie of Sophia, Kathy Matics and husband, John of Warrenton, VA and Debbie Smith and husband, Leigh of Oceana; a son, Larry Sullivan and wife, Joyce of Matheny; grandchildren: Reggie Roles, Jr., Melanie Buchanan and husband, Neil, all of Sophia, Lindsey Lowery and husband, Brian and Johnny Matics, III, all of Warrenton, VA and Lacey Smith of Oceana; and great-grandchildren: Adriana and Nicholas Buchanan. Those also mourning her loss are her step-grandchildren, Daren Stewart and wife, Adonna of Kopperston and Madonna Jeffery and husband, Allen of Ohley, WV; step-great-grandchildren: Ricki, Kelsey, Miranda, Jon David, Savannah, Emilee, Braidon, Neveah, Julianna and Austin; three brothers: Rev. D. Homer Stewart of Bluefield, Jimmie Stewart of Cave City, KY and Roger Stewart of Lemont, IL; one sister, Edith “Sis” Stewart of Green Valley, IL and a host of nieces and nephews.
