After graduation he became a Proud Marine during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he came to Odessa to begin a 40 year career with the Texas Highway Department. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling and especially going to Reno and Las Vegas to volunteer with the PGA Tournaments.
He was a member of the American GI Forum where he met his future wife Evelia Evaro. They were married on June 9, 1956. He was an active member of the American Legion and VFW, where he volunteered in the Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Evelia and son, Stephen Calderon; brothers, Margarito, Antonio and Robert Calderon; sister, Ella Alvarez. Proud uncle to his nieces and nephews from the Calderon and Evaro families and his brother in law Rogelio Evaro.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rudolph Henri and Johnny Calderon; sister, Elizabeth Rodriguez; brother in law, Rodrigo Evaro and Special Bro, Vidal Porras.
He will be missed by his many friends and neighbors. We the family thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
A fellowship with family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Chapel. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at Frank W. Wilson Chapel on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 1:00p.m. with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery, Rose Hill.
