

Anna Lucy Bray McAdams, 89, longtime resident of Odessa, passed peacefully from this earth to her Savior’s embrace on Saturday, June 04, 2011, at the Hospice House in Odessa. Born October 6, 1921, in Durant, OK and married to Horace Ware McAdams in Muleshoe, TX, on October 5, 1941, she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love to a close, Christian family.
Lucy and Horace McAdams owned ABC McAdams Playschool and Kindergarten for 39 years, where Lucy served as the Licensed Director. Their home influenced many students over the years. She served as a Worthy Matron in the Muleshoe Chapter of the Eastern Star, as well as being a 50-year active member in the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs, a lively participant in the Fidelis Sunday School, and a 57-year member of Odessa First United Methodist Church. Lucy also nurtured her life-long passion and artistic talent for oil painting until a year ago.
Mrs. McAdams was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lola Bray; her first brother Clyde Allen Bray, Jr.; and also her husband Horace of 57 years in 1999. Lucy is survived by her sister-in-law Thelma Bray of Pampa, TX; two younger brothers and their wives Dan and Jo Bray of Lubbock, TX, and Keith and Jo Bray of Collyer, KS. Her adoring children include Evertt and Estelle McAdams of Plains, TX; Julie and Raymond Jones of Clint, TX; twin sons Ben and Sande McAdams of Odessa, TX, and Ken and Ann McAdams of San Antonio, TX.
Her dearly loved grandchildren include: Lacy and A’ndrea McAdams, Ken Michael and Kimberly McAdams, all of Plains, TX; Ryan Jones, Andy and Dana McAdams, all of San Antonio, TX; Penny and Jimmy Wiseman of Providence Village, TX; James McAdams and Holly McAdams, both of Odessa, TX; Brant and Alison McAdams of Tacoma, WA.
She was joyously blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Grace, Jett, Abigale, JoAnna (her namesake), Elijah, Kylie, Jadon, Blake, Nathan, Ben, Avery, and baby McAdams on-the-way. A large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews complete the Bray-McAdams heritage of Christ’s love.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Frank Wilson Funeral Home.
A Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Odessa on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11o’clock with Pastor Terry Tamplen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
