August Henry Ganze Jr.

He was born May 1, 1929 to August and Clara Ganze in Corsicana, Texas.

He graduated from Corsicana High School. He received his BA at SMU in 1956. August, Gus to his friends, met the love of his life, Betty, while they were both at SMU. His education was interrupted, when he joined the Air Force and earned his wings. He piloted a C119 and had the opportunity to see the world, flying to Korea, Japan, Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa. When he returned, he completed his degree and he and Betty were married. They moved to Odessa in 1964. They loved to travel and cook together, and spend time with family, especially their beloved grandson, Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty Ganze.

He is survived by his daughter Karen Bovee and husband Steve of Odessa, grandson Ryan Bovee of Austin, brother Wayne Ganze and wife Joyce of Boerne, niece Elizabeth Kavanagh and husband Sean, their daughters Erin and Hayley of Boerne, sister-in-law Pat Wight of Albuquerque, niece Carol Wight and husband Wally Drangmeister, her daughters Tatiana and Catrina of Albuquerque, nephew Stan Wight and wife Lindsey of Albuquerque.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, April 8, 2016 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will be 2pm Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.
