Barbara Jean, daughter of James P. and Bettie Opal Medford, was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her father followed the oil industry, living in West Texas and New Mexico before settling in Levelland, Texas. She attended and graduated high school in Levelland, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Bill Minor. Bill and Barbara were married in 1950 and, John, the first of five children was born in 1951. Four daughters followed in the ensuing years. Kathy Graham, Debbie Kappes, Cindy Hurado and Renee Koonce rounded out the Minor troupe. The Minor's settled in Odessa in the late 1950's.
Barbara was both a stay at home mom and working partner to Bill. She sometimes managed a friends optical shop, managed and sold ladies fashions at the Shanty and had a great time modeling for the Model Shop department stores in television ads.
She was very proud of the accomplishments of her 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grand children, often exploring curiosity into science and culture with all. Her sharp mind and fabulous memory served her well whether she was enjoying board games with family, cooking those biscuits and chocolate pecan pies or exploring the wonders of the botanical world she so loved.
She was an avid gardener, proudly displaying her green thumb to all who would view her often exotic prized plants, which she shared prolifically.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and daughter Debbie. She is survived by her brother Jim, son John, and daughters Kathy, Cindy and Renee.
