Benita Gail (Butler) Jones

Benita Gail Jones, age 71, of Odessa, Texas passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Benita was born July 27, 1951 in Rotan, Texas to the late Margie Beth (Wheeler) and Herman Butler.

She was a 1969 graduate of Permian High School. Benita married Larry Jones on February 3, 1978 in Millsap, TX and together they owned and operated Odessa Nut & Bolt, where she was Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church and she loved her church family. Benita liked to go shopping and enjoyed family vacations and traveling with her cousin and sister. She loved watching her grandson’s activities – especially her youngest grandson play baseball. She was a proud Nana and was very generous and loving. Benita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed – until we meet again.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry Jones; daughter, Kendra Golden and husband Jonathan of Odessa; sister, Gwen Todaro and life partner Norm Smart of Los Lunas, NM; and grandsons, Dylan Mahan and wife Andrea and Cooper Golden, all of Odessa.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 5-9 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at First Baptist Church followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Jonathan Golden, Dylan Mahan, Cooper Golden, Jeff Harrison, Wendell Faulkner and Tommy Melton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Kimberlin, Richard McDuff and Mike McDuff.
