

Bessie married T.G Murdock in 1939, Odessa’s first fire marshal. They later opened the first Harley Davidson Motorcycle
Dealership in Odessa and started the first Odessa Motorcycle Club. Bessie owned and rode her own motorcycle in club
events. She loved to cook and worked many years as the head pastry cook for Furr’s Cafeteria. She was known for her Bessie
Marie cloth dolls and other crafts that were given to family and friends and sold at the Harvest Fair. She was a member of the
Home Demonstration Club for almost 30 years. Bessie was secretary of the AARP organization at the North Side Senior
Citizens Center. She also enjoyed dancing and other activities at the center.
Bessie stayed strong, courageous, and independent while living alone, with son Carl looking in on her daily. She enjoyed
working puzzles, feeding the birds, and watching her good friend Mary Ann Miles work in her Liberty Garden.
Survivors include her two children, Carl Ray Murdock of Odessa and Charlene Hedrick and husband Joe Hedrick of Arlington,
TX. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Scott Murdock, David Murdock, Cheryl Cypret, Amy Young, Carla Hedrick, Devin
Hedrick and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday December 20, 2012 from 9am to 9pm at Frank Wilson
Funeral Directors. Services will be held Friday Dec 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with
Reverend: Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery at the Odessa Section. Thanks to the
