

Bobbie Ruth (Conn) Hunter, age 87, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 after a brief illness at Deerings Nursing Home. She was born January 4, 1926 in Gilmer, Texas to Walton Alvin & Annie Bertha (Meadows) Conn. From age 1 ½ she lived in West Texas, moving to Odessa in 1939. A retired bookkeeper, she was employed by Oil Well Supply after graduating from Odessa High School in 1944, and later for Commercial Radio Service and J.H. Marks Trucking Company. On December 16, 1942 she married the love of her life, Ray Eli Hunter in Vancouver, WA, after taking a four day bus trip to Portland, Oregon where Ray was stationed at Portland Army Air Base. They had two daughters, Linda Rae (Hunter) Everett and Barbara Ann (Hunter) Huff. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of ABWA, former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader, OHS Band Boosters, and was active for many years in the DAR.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, and daughter, Linda, her brother, Walton and infant sister Peggy. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Huff & husband Stan of Crossville, TN, grandchildren, Ellen (Everett) Garza & husband Victor of Austin, Gregory Hunter Lovelace & wife Leslie of Acworth, GA, US Air Force Major, Brandon Ray Huff and Fiancee U.S Air Force Major Jennifer Swazay of Goldsboro, N.C, Steve Huff of Jacksonville, Florida, Sheryl Huff Carter & husband Dana of Cary, IL & Dr. Staci Huff Bracken & husband Pete of Jacksonville, FL, great-grandchildren, Hunter and Linda Garza, Keaton and Lauren Lovelace, Haylee and Charlee Bracken, Nico and Alex Huff, and Chance and Kate Carter, sister, Margie Conn Webb of Rowlett, TX and brother, Dan Conn & wife Tommye of Temple, TX, and several nieces and nephews,
There will be a family visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
