Charles R. Boroff was born in the family home in the Welsh community of Venedocia Ohio on July 6th 1928.He was a 32nd degree Mason and a lifelong member of the Van Wert,Ohio Elks Lodge #1197.
He married our Mother, Esther E.(North) Boroff on November 9th 1947 and was blessed with 4 very wonderful and perfect children. Rosemary blessed them first and never let the rest of us forget it! Then Steve made his shining appearance, the first redhead to carry on for Grandpa Boroff. Joy happened third and that's all I have to say about that. Last and certainly not least, Mark steamrolled his way into our lives and we spoiled him rotten! All kidding aside, we all turned out pretty good and Dad was proud of us all.
Dad was a man of his era, he could plumb,do electrical, carpenter, you name it he could do it. He could build anything and could fabricate parts for farm equipment and while the forge was hot, make horseshoes. The ring of that anvil was like beautiful music. He loved being in the horse business on and off over the years and lived vicariously though Steve's lifelong career of racing.
He and Mom were never afraid to tackle the things life throws at you.and in typical fashion they moved to Texas and opened a Pizzia & Deli in 1976 in Odessa,Texas.Knowing nothing about the pizza business did not deter them at all. The store was a great success, the community embraced us even if we were damn yankees.
He later married Marilyn Stockton and moved back to Ohio. After their divorce he spent his time between Texas and Ohio.He married Norma Adam and resided with her in Ft. Jennings, Ohio until she passed on August 3rd 2017.
He worked at the Van Wert Walmart into his 80's and was remembered for his cowboy hats, boots and the stories he told. He enjoyed that job very much because he could regale you with his stories for hours if you would let him. He was a true Welshman when it came to the art of talking! He also was a talented singer and sang in many churches in the area.
He is survived by his children, daughter Rosemary Foreman, Son Steve Boroff and wife TamaLu, daughter Joy and husband Arden Brasuel and son Mark Boroff and wife Beth; Grandchildren, Angi (Charles) Wright, Tracy (Robert) Carey, Jason ( Kristina) Boroff, John (Sheila) Boroff, Justin (Jeanie) Boroff, Dustin ( Crystal) Boroff, April (Chad Stokley) Lorenz; Great Grandchildren, Josh Bigelow, C.J. Thank you to the wonderful Staff at Buena Vida Nursing home for loving and caring for Dad, he was very happy there and thankful for them.
He donated his body to science and a memorial at Tomlinson Cemetery, Mercer County, Ohio will be held at a later date.
