David J. Carey

David J. Carey, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Regency Hospital in Odessa.

He was born December 12, 1935, to Collin Penn and Rena (Meek) Carey in Colorado City, TX. He married Mae Holder on February 9, 1962, in Houston. He served in and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He was retired from the State Comptroller’s office and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, John Carey, two brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mae H. Carey of Odessa; son, Stephen Carey of Lubbock, TX; daughters, Gwen Hearne and husband, James of Crosby, ND; and Kim Courville and husband, Kip of Andrews, TX; sister, Sarah Vaughan and husband, Don of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Holly, Nichole, Jonathan, Jennifer, and Brandon, and one great-granddaughter, Emily.

Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Rev. Weeks Dubose officiating and special music by Matt Hollman. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
