ODESSA Deanie Nunley was born on July 6, 1927 in Grandfiled Oklahoma. She spent her youth on a farm in Farwell, Texas and attended college at McMurry University in Abilene. In October of 1947, she married James L. Nunley and they raised their three boys in Odessa, Texas.
Deanie spent most of her time showing her family unconditional love and doting care. She had one grandson and five granddaughters that she spoiled with homemade goodies, creative projects, and most of all, her undivided attention. She was also blessed with two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Whether they were family or friends, she always put herself last and other people's needs before her own. She was a servant of the Lord to the fullest, always giving or helping others in one way or another.
The hill country was her home for 18 years where she enjoyed Bluebonnets, German food, Polka music, river, Spurs games, and volunteering at the Mckinney Hospital. Deanie enjoyed expressing her clever creativity in numerous ways: painting, knitting, quilting, cooking, drawing, reading, expanding an extensive vocabulary, and caring for her plants (she had the greenest thumb). She inspired the people closest to her to be expand their vocabulary, be curious, kind, patient, and thoughtful.
She died on Saturday, July 28, 2012 surrounded by all of her family.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her three sons: Jimmy Nunley and wife Kathy of Odessa, Ben Nunley and wife Carol of Half Moon Bay, California, Randy Nunley of Austin, and Sam the cat. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Casey Hos-kinson, Jason Nunley, Kelli Swearengin, Stefanie Jam-es, Ashley Nunley and Paige Nunley along with three great-grandchildren, Avery, Jett and Keagan.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31st at Eisenhower Church of Christ in Odessa.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
