

Ed Calvin Snowden, Jr, 83, of Odessa, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital.
Ed was born in Mitchell County, TX, on April 8, 1930. He graduated from Colorado City High School and joined the U.S. Navy in August 1948, and served until August 1952. Ed married Dorothy Faye Hardcastle on November 25, 1952; they were married 27 years.
He worked as an instrument technician for General Tire & Rubber, Adobe Gas and owned his own company through his working life. He enjoyed river fishing and camping. He was also actively involved in community organizations and church activities.
He is survived by the mother of his children Dorothy Hardcastle Snowden of Spring, TX; his daughter Virginia Franzoy and husband, Mike of Spring, TX, and their three children Travis Franzoy and wife, Stephanie, Trey Franzoy and wife, Nicole, and Traci Franzoy Mittelstaedt and husband, Jerad; his sons Timothy Snowden of Spring, TX; and Harvey Snowden and wife, Judy of Odessa, and their three children Amy Ellis and husband, Dennis, Shawn Warner, and Brandy Gunter and husband, William; seventeen great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ed Snowden Sr. and Ruth Snowden, his older sister Mildred Louise Snowden, and younger brother Fred Sam Snowden.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Mike Ayers officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City, TX.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Snowden Trust, 5708 N. Dixie Blvd, Odessa, TX 79762.
