“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
Ersie Ellen Eubank passed from this earthly life on August 10, 2011, at the age of 66.
Ersie Ellen Stewart was born on February 24, 1945, in Cub Run, Kentucky, to W.D. and Bernice Stewart. Ersie married Doug Eubank on October 16, 1964, in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The Eubanks moved to West Texas in 1966 and settled in Odessa, where they raised their family and later enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. “Mamaw” took a special interest in the lives of her three granddaughters and two grandsons, attending their games, recitals and concerts. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and her commitment to her faith.
Ersie and Doug were members of Tanglewood Church of Christ while their children were growing up. They later became members of Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ. Ersie also worshipped at Sherwood Church of Christ, where she remained a member until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug, her parents, and two brothers, Charles Stewart and James Stewart. Ersie is survived by her son Rusty Eubank, wife Christy, and children Seth and Jessica of Odessa; daughter Wendi Turbyfill, husband Tom, and children Shelbe, Kassidy and Tanner of Odessa; brother Bill Stewart and wife Juanita of Louisville, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, August 13, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Sherwood Church of Christ with Mark Wilson officiating.
Services have been entrusted to Frank Wilson Funeral Home.
Ersie left her legacy of Christian faith to her friends and family, hoping all would “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:14.
