

In Our Heavenly Kingdom and in the loving arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is to be found our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother & Dear Friend Gary L. Matthews. Mr Matthews 61 of Odessa passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital after a 7 year heroic battle with cancer.. He was born January 2, 1952 in Ballinger, Texas to Arvol and Veta Matthews.
He united in marriage to Janet Setliff June 12, 2004 in Monahans, Texas living most of his life in Odessa, Texas.
Gary was a passionate man who loved his work and restoring classic cars. In his spare time you could find him in his man cave tinkering with a car and watching NASCAR or College Football
He is preceded in death by Parents: Arvol and Arveta Matthews,
He is survived by his loving wife: Janet S. Matthews of Odessa, Gary was extremely proud of his three children, Shandy Scott, and her husband Sean Scott, Toby Matthews and his wife Keri, and Justin Matthews and his wife Jennifer. As well as, his five step children Jennifer Harvey and her husband Jason, Jayme Harvey and his wife Nicole , Geneva Lee and her husband Brandon, Jaynel Shirley and her husband Stephen and Greg McConal. Of course his favorite time was time spent with any one of his 17 grandchildren and 1 great grand child. Gary is also survived by his sister Patsy Matthews Dickman and her husband Robert and brother Jeff Matthews and his wife Shiela, and many nieces and a nephew.
We the family would like to take this time and express our utmost sincere gratitude to each and everyone of you for all your prayers, floral, food offerings, and especially your presence with us during this most difficult time, A Special thanks to M.C.H nursing staff, Patsy Dickman, and Greg McConal for the supurb care they provided in the last months.

Visitation with a family gathering will be held Today Friday May 24, 2013 from 5pm to 9pm at Odessa Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10am Saturday May 25, 2013 at Crescent Park Baptist Church (3002 E. University) with Dr. David T. Miller officiating, Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
