John "Richard" Babcock

Survived by his three children, Daughter Cathy Phelps and husband Jay Phelps; Son Rick Babcock and spouse Cathy Babcock; Daughter Debbie Combs and spouse Bernie Rambo. Six Grandchildren; Jon Phelps, Crystal Myers (Kenny Myers), Jennifer Temple (Lance Temple), Christopher Zuber (Tarah), Steven Babcock (April) and Brandon Babcock. Twelve Great Grandchildren; Miranda, Samantha, Shelbie, JD, Averi, Chaz, April, Jayson, Ian, Emma, Tanna and Joshua. Brother Robert Babcock and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sister in laws.

Proceed in death by the love of his life Betty Nunn Babcock (November 15 2018) after 61 years of marriage; his parents Lewis Prather and Jannie Ann Babcock; mother and father in law William Otha and Gertie Irene Nunn; brothers LP, Leland, Charles and sister Bonnie.

He loved his family; friends, fishing, tell jokes, playing cards, slot machines and selling his watermelons.

Richard from Hickman Kentucky married Betty Lou Nunn from Anniston Missouri on June 29, 1957. Moved to Odessa, Texas Richard and Betty raised their three children in Odessa. He worked hard all his life all the while making lifelong friends, some that felt like family instead of friends.

He was a joker and could tell some good ones. He loved to visit his friends and family when he went back home to Kentucky and Missouri loved crossing the Mississippi River on the ferry (which Betty did not care for). He liked going to Pojos for his morning coffee and meeting up with friends.

Fly high, rejoice with the love of your life, and catch up with your loved ones. Many hugs to receive and to be given. Guess you had better get a game of spades going with Betty, Charles and Liz. Then oh my the meeting and reunion that will be when you meet up with Wayne Davis, Neal Pool, Sharmen Imler Nate Cawley, Kenneth Imler and a few more (boy I hope the lord knows his hands will be full with this group).

You will be missed by so many but we know you are healed, happy, rejoicing and this is not goodbye it is until we meet again.

A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Dr, Odessa, Texas. The family will be present from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM to receive friends. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Dr, Odessa, Texas. A burial will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E 1-20 Business Loop, Odessa, Texas.
