

Johnnie Mae was born in Dawson, TX (Navarro County) on April 5, 1929, the 2nd of 10 children to the late George and Mable (Jones) Babers. She was united in marriage on July 12, 1942, to Freddie D. Lawrence. They were married for 48 years, and to this union, 7 daughters were born.
Johnnie Mae was a long-time resident of Odessa, TX, a committed follower of Jesus Christ and highly regarded in the community as a “Woman of God.”
Johnnie Mae was an Evangelist Missionary since 1984 and the longest-serving member of Parks Memorial Church of God In Christ. Not only was she the church pianist for many years, but she also served as President of YPWW, YWCC, Bible Band, Sunday School, Mother’s Board, and served on the Usher Board, Deaconess Board, and Board of Trustees.
Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie D. Lawrence, and daughter, Joanne Lawrence, and is survived by 6 Daughters, 12 Grandchildren, and 12 beautiful Great-Grandchildren.
Johnnie Mae left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace and was an example to all that knew her. We look forward to the day when we will be reunited in Heaven.
Johnnie Mae’s Homegoing Services has been entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home and is scheduled for 1 pm Monday, January 4, 2021, at Living Vision Ministries located at 525 S. Grandview Ave., Odessa, TX 79761.
Her visitation will be Sunday, January 3, 2021, from 2-4 pm at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
