She was born on August 19, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Jose and Juanita Leija. On November 15, 1952, Josephine married the love of her life, Tomas Moreno, and together they shared 63 years of marriage until his passing.
Josephine was a woman of strong faith and a gentle spirit. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, treasured her collection of turtles, and found comfort and guidance in reading her Bible. She was deeply devoted to her family and leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and grace. She will always be remembered by her great grandchildren as "Grandma GG."
She is survived by her daughter, Susie Lara and husband Henry; her sons, Adam Moreno and wife Diana, and Eddie Moreno; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tomas Moreno; her children, Tommy Moreno Jr., David Moreno, Frank Moreno, Maria Bernal (and husband Ben Bernal), Norma Salinas, and Carmen Santiago (and husband Jaime Santiago); her grandchildren, Luis Bernal and Kathy Lara; and her great-great-grandchild, Oakley Lara Perez.

A visitation for Josephine will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761. The committal & burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, TX 79761.
Serving as pallbearers are Henry Lara Jr, Adrian Lara, Gabriel Salinas Jr, Andy Salinas, Ben Bernal Jr., Adam Moreno Jr., Frankie Moreno Jr., Moses Montana Salinas. Honorary pallbearers are Zayden Mendoza, Thomas Moreno, Isaiah Salinas, Isaiah Fierro, Julian Davis and Rocky Ramirez.
