LaVeta Marie Gehrels was born in Ballinger, Texas to Reuben and Dessie Louise (Davis )Gehrels. She went to school in Winters, Texas. She married Argene Hodge and moved to Odessa in 1957. She was involved in clubs, organizations and leagues and was very active in her church, Highland Methodist Church. She later married Gerald Perry in Odessa.
LaVeta is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Hodge and her children’s father, Argene Hodge.
LaVeta is survived by her husband, Gerald Perry, her eldest daughter, Lisa Hodge, brother, Jim Gehrels, younger sister, Donna Stamps, step-children, Beth Whitsell, and husband Dennis, and Patrick Perry, and Grandchildren, Luke and Madison Whitsell.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday August 24th at Hubbard – Kelly Funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday August 25th, at Highland Methodist Church with the Rev. Dustin Burrow officiating. Burial will be held 3 pm Saturday August 26th at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters Texas.
