

Marvin Kenneth “Ken” Thompson, age 93, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born March 18, 1917, to Patrick and Hattie (Scott) Thompson in Lometa, TX. He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II; and built roads in Alaska. He received the Asiatic-Pacific-Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Auth to wear Merit Service Unit Insignia – 349th Engineer Regt Auth 4-0/Seas Service Bars.
He married Desma Perkins on October 12, 1966. He loved to travel and experience new and different things and was an avid reader. He started the Library at Disciples Village II. He moved from Seminole to Odessa in 2007.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Desma Thompson, two brothers and three sisters, and one daughter, Nadine Thomason.
He is survived by his daughter, Ava Skiles of Odessa, his sister, Gracie Preston of Belton, TX, grandchildren, Sheila Payne of Odessa, Christy Button of Odessa, Terri Manhefka of Mansfield, Ohio, and Lonnie Thomason of Houston, and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Crescent Park Church of Christ, 1415 Royalty, with Dale Garrison officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House of Odessa, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761.
