After a courageous seven year battle with cancer, Michael R. Chance, 57, passed away at Hospice House of Odessa, TX on December 15, 2011.
Born to Sue and Roscoe Chance in St. Johns AZ, he graduated from Cloudcroft High School in New Mexico in 1972. On December 22, 1972 he married Catherine Langston. His proudest moment happened three years later when they were blessed with a son, Eddie Chance, who precedes him in death.
Long time resident of Odessa, he worked as a welder and shop foreman in the oilfield for many years and as a plant operator at Medical Center Hospital for the past 8 years. He left his mark on each place leaving with many life long friends.
Forever we will keep memories of the unwavering love he showed for his wife, son and daughter-by-choice, his kind heart and mischievous sense of humor which he maintained until the very end. He will be remembered as a role model by the many children in which he took under his wing either as a coach or a family friend, his smile that never met a stranger and his honesty. He enjoyed weekends at Rockwood, listening to Texas Country Music, playing guitar, fishing, hunting, grilling for friends and family, playing cards and dominos, western movies, western dancing and keeping his co-workers on their toes. He will be revered as a man who never lost his faith when faced with adversities.
Michael is survived by wife of 39 years, Cathy Chance; daughter-by-choice, Lindsay DeMoss; grandson-by-choice, Cameron Graves; siblings, Darryl Chance and wife Cathy, Pam Goode and husband Dave and Beth Reirdon and husband Rich; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Betty Langston; sister-in-laws, Beth Stanton and Suzie White; brother-in-law, Eddie Stanton and nieces and nephews, Brandon, Mandy, Stacey, David, Greg, Crystal, Justin, Chelsey, Andrew, Ricky, Cheryl, and Eric.
