She was born December 9, 1937, in Hamlin, Texas, to the late Bernice (Boothe) and Harl Williams.
Nancy graduated from Eastland High School and attended Columbia Secretarial College in Odessa. She dedicated many years of service to the Ector County Independent School District as a school secretary. On March 11, 1956, she married the love of her life, Boyd Clifton Franklin, whom she met at Doc Davis Drug Store in Eastland, Texas.
Nancy was a woman of deep faith and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 11 at York Avenue Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas, and faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She was an active member of several churches over the years, including Temple Baptist Church, Life Change Baptist Church, and most recently First Baptist Church.
She had a vibrant and joyful spirit and was known for her warmth, kindness, and outgoing personality. Nancy never met a stranger and was a gifted conversationalist who formed lasting friendships wherever she went. She was actively involved in her neighborhood, church, Bunco group, and exercise classes, and she cherished the many friendships she built through these connections.
Nancy loved plants and flowers and created her own “Hawaiian paradise” in her backyard, a reflection of her love for beauty and life. She also enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and making lasting memories with her family and friends.
Above all, Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her life was marked by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering faith that she shared freely with others. Her positive impact on those around her will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Whitley and husband Jack, and Beverly Robertson and husband George; daughter-in-law, Diana Franklin; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Oliver and Louie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Clifton Franklin; her son, Kenneth Boyd Franklin; her sisters, Eloise Wood and Joyce Thompson; and her brothers, Charles Williams, Elton Williams, and Paul Williams, as well as her cherished dogs, Millie and Sophie.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place Friday, April 10, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, followed by a graveside committal at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She loved pink, so in celebration of her life, the family kindly requests that guests wear spring colors to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Whitley, Todd Whitley, Michael Spaulding, Brandon Franklin, Chad Franklin, and Eric Bugg.
Nancy’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now in her heavenly home.
