Pat was born on July 15, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Lee Lewis Newton Reid and Emma Ruth Kennedy Reid. She graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960. She was married to the love of her earthly life Billy Ray (Bill) McPherson, and they loved one another until he preceded her in death in 2022. “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and finds favor from the Lord.” Pat’s steadfast devotion to God lead Bill to find his own salvation with the Lord.
She was a supervisor at Gibson’s until she retired in 1979. She attended Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science and earned licensure as an Embalmer and Funeral Director, and worked for Weiland Merritt Funeral Home, compassionately providing care for grieving families.
Pat worked with Odessa Special Olympics and was a Life Member of both the VFW Post 4372 Auxiliary and AMVets 007 Auxiliary.
Pat was tenacious and kind, living life to the fullest and fulfilled her God given purpose. She was a loving wife, mother, Gran, friend and mentor. She was a disciple for Jesus and a prayer warrior who fully exemplified the scripture “A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” She was talented, had strong business skills, was an independent thinker and a little sassy! She was a vision of a Proverbs 31 woman: “a personification of wisdom who embodied a life of valor, courage, strength, and dignity. She was a wife of noble character and worth far more than rubies. She spoke with wisdom and faithful instruction was on her tongue. Her children arise and call her blessed”. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her and she never passed up an opportunity to be at everything she could be – from every sporting event to choir performance and everything in between she would be there and you better believe she would show up wearing pink, the most beautiful color in the world to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her parents.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are: her children Scott McPherson and wife Jody, Lori McPherson, Shane McPherson, Carolyn Blackmon, and Jennifer Poskey; grandchildren Leah, Amber and husband Jonathan, Stormi, Zachary, Britney and husband Charles, Brooklyn and husband Zachary, Bryce and wife Maddy, Samantha, Peyton and Kasen; great grandchildren Jaden, Aspen, Brylee, Jackson, Brenley, Westen, Karsyn, Addilyn, Kolton, Knox, Aubrey, Aveyn and Walker; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
