Pauling Bolding Steele, age 83, of Odessa, went home to her Lord September 4, 2011, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pauline was an only child, born April 21, 1928, to William and Myrtle Bolding. They lived south of the Cross Plains/Rising Star area and northwest of Brownwood, Texas. Pauline attended school at Williams, a community that no longer exists. She moved with her parents to Odessa in the late 1940’s, where she met Austin Cress Steele. They were married July 18, 1940, and had 59 wonderful years together before his death in 2008.
Pauline and Cress both made their careers working for Phillips Petroleum Company, and retired in 1985.
Pauline (or less formally “Polly”) was a valued member of Second Baptist Church through the years. Her lovely smile and genuine interest in everyone she met endeared her to all ages. Her hobby was collecting beautiful things for her home.
She is survived by several cousins and many friends.
On her behalf, her friends wish to express gratitude to her doctors, caregivers, and to Compass Hospice.
Friend wills be received from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Drive. Her service will be held at Second Baptist Church, 711 East 17th St. at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday September 7, 2011 with Pastor Randy Duckett officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials can be made to Second Baptist Church of Odessa or West Texas Gifts of Hope-Hope House, of Odessa P.O. Box 891 Odessa, TX 79760.
