Rachel Bennie Jordan

Longtime Odessa resident, Rachel Bennie Jordan, at the age of 99 years died on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Parks Methodist's Nursing Home where she resided. Rachel loved everyone at Parks and they all loved and took very good care of her.

Mrs. Jordan was born March 13, 1915 in Como, Tenn. to Rev. Robert Paschal and wife, Mattie Lou.

She and her six siblings were raised in Camden ,Tenn. She married Hershel Jordan in January 1930 and they came to Texas the early 1950s.

Mrs. Jordan was a dedicated Christian who led her children and grandchildren by example. It was a common sight to find her sitting in her rocking chair with her Bible open. She never met a stranger and no one ever spoke with her that she didn't ask them if they attended church and to invite them to hers. She loved Calvary Baptist Church and Rev. James Bishop and his family. She had a servant's heart and a kind gentle word for all. She was the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. She loved children and children adored her.

Funeral Services, under the direction of Odessa Funeral Home, are scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 8644 Andrews Hwy, Odessa, Texas with Pastor James

Interrment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens
