

Bob Miller was born in Bowie, TX, on Feb. 22, l934, to Robert V Miller, Sr. and Elizabeth Teel Miller. He was educated in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Topeka High School in May, l952. He was active in baseball & basketball. In l951, Miller completed the Naval Reserve Recruit Training course at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Illinois. He served for 4 years in the Naval Reserve until he was honorably discharged in l955. He worked for Santa-Fe Railroad as a cable splicer and for Noller Ford Co.
On arriving in Odessa in 1967, he went to work for Joe White Lincoln Mercury; and later, Parker Drilling. He worked for Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp and became district manager in l983. He was self- employed and the owner of Miller Thread Protectors in 1987, until his retirement in 1997.
He has been an active member of First United Methodist Church and member of the Builders Class. He belonged to the Odessa Country Club, Southwest Seniors Golf Assn., and Tri-State Seniors Golf Assn., serving on its Board of Directors. Bob Miller was an avid golfer and on July 29th, just 4 days before entering the hospital, he shot his age, 77, with a hole-in-one on #15, Odessa Country Club. He was also an associate member of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, the NRA and the Topeka High School Historical Society.
On February 7, l970, he married Georgene (Genie) Brownlee Fink, in Odessa, TX. He is survived by his wife, Georgene, and one stepson, Joel Fink, Jr. and wife, Laura of Midland, TX. He is also survived by his son, Walter Miller and wife, Tammy of Blue Springs, MO; daughters, Linda Hoffman and husband, Dan, of Edmond, OK; Deborah Dempsey and husband, Doyle, of Henderson, NV; and Kathy Sherman of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren, including Ryan and wife, Katie Fink, Kelsey Fink and Reagan Fink of Midland, TX; Matthew and Jennifer Hoffman of Hawaii and great-grandchildren, Makala and Mia, Daniel and Jennifer Hoffman of Chapman, KS; Walter, Robert and Jenifer Miller of Blue Spring, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Tamplen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, the Door of Hope, or to the Charity of your choice.
