Ruben Roman

ODESSA Ruben Roman, 66, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was born to Gustavo and Flora Roman on July 9, 1948, in Saragosa, Texas. He attended school in Balmorhea where he graduated in 1967 and later that year went into the U.S. Army. He was eventually sent to Germany, where he was stationed for two years. Ruben later returned home where he married Adela Roman on January 15, 1972 in Balmorhea, Texas. They later moved to Odessa, Texas where they had two children together and were married for 42 years.

Ruben worked for Albertson’s Grocery Store 26 years where he retired in 2012. Ruben had a deep love for music. Ruben started a band, the Golden Oldies, where he played the guitar and was the band’s lead singer. The band played together for many years. He enjoyed sports; watching boxing, football and baseball were also a passion for Ruben. He loved to watch boxing on Friday’s and Saturday’s with his family and friends. He loved the Dallas Cowboys football team and the Texas Rangers baseball team. His real passion was family. Ruben enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to have his family at home for cook outs, family dinners and any time he could have his grandchildren over.

Ruben is survived by his sisters, Rita Yslas, spouse Francisco Yslas of Odessa, Texas, Mary Hernandez, spouse Sonny Hernandez of Odessa, Texas, and Rachel Roman of Odessa, Texas and his brothers, Robert Roman, spouse Mary Helen Roman of Odessa, Texas, Mike Fuentes and David Fuentes, both from Saragosa, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Adela Roman of Odessa, Texas, and 2 children: Shannon Yvette Aguilar, spouse Roel Aguilar of Flower Mound, Texas, and Christopher Ruben Roman, spouse Camellia Marie Roman of Odessa, Texas, as well as 6 grandchildren, Zachary Micah Torres, Ashton Victoria Torres, Abram Roel Aguilar, Zane Christopher Torres, from Flower Mound, Texas and Arianna Reece Roman, Grayson Christopher Connor Roman both from Odessa, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Flora Roman, brother, Francisco Fuentes and sisters Eva Meras and Serefina Garcia.

Visitation will be held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-9 pm. Services will be in the chapel at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20th, at 11 AM.
