Tommy was born on December 24, 1950, to the late Charles (Chuck) Meyer and Willie (Dink) Meyer.
In elementary school, he loved to read and learned how to fix almost anything. He was a star football player in Jr. High and High School, until he got injured. During the summers, he would go and work on his Uncle Tom and Aunt Marcie’s farm and learned a lot. After graduation, he went to work in the “Oil Fields.” First, as a “Roughneck,” and then years later he became the youngest Tool Pusher in West Texas. He even had his photo in “Oil World News” magazine… When we met, for me, it was “love at first sight.” I didn’t even know his name!! We got married after dating a year, then the boys came. When our boys got older, he INSISTED they learn to fish, which he loved to do. He would take anyone who wanted to go. He would say that was where he went to church to be with the Lord. After the oil field, he became a drug counselor and helped many people… He also loved to play Dominos with his brother and sisters or whoever was over visiting. He got to go on what he called his Bucket List vacation with his brother Charlie who took him on a cruise to the Caribbean. He loved the scuba diving.
Now lately, with the high price of eggs, he took up chicken raising! One of the eggs had three yolks in it, which he called “rare!” The other day, he surprised me when I asked him what songs he liked and he said our first, which is ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher’ by Jackie Wilson. Then he said one of Elvis’s songs and I told him, “But you don’t like Elvis!” And he said, “Yes, I do! Just not as much as you!”
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Judith "Johnnie" Meyer, his sons Patrick Meyer, Mike Meyer, Matt Meyer, and Thomas Meyer; his grandsons, Ryan Meyer and Greyson Meyer; his brother Charlie Meyer, his sisters Barbara Brown and Beverly Rowe; his Brother-in-Law Tiny Rowe, lots of Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends, and his inherited son RJ McGee. Preceded in death are his parents Chuck and Dink Meyer. Sister Marie Reeves, Brother-in-Law Tommy Reeves, sister Cathy Meyer, Brother In Law Rick Brown, Father-in-Law Randy Fails, his Mother-in-Law Judy Perryman, and Nephew Ricky Peterson.
A visitation for Tommy will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM
