Vera Graham died at the age of 90 on March 16, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
Vera was born in Benton County, Arkansas, (six miles from Bentonville) on December 19, 1919, to Dora Bessie (Holcomb) and William (Will) Henry Evans. She had two brothers, Jesse Carl and Fred Andrew. They lived on a farm and all worked hard to keep it going. She attended Evening Star school, then Vaughn High School where she graduated.
She attended secretarial school and had many secretarial jobs over the years. She worked for Skelly/Getty/Texaco Oil Company for over 30 years and retired in 1985 as an Administrative Assistant to the District Administrative Coordinator.
Vera married Vance Dee Graham on June 15, 1940, in Bentonville, Arkansas. They had one daughter, Carla.
After living in several northwest Arkansas locations, the Grahams left Bentonville and moved to Monahans, Texas, on January 1, 1954. Dee and Vera later moved to Midland, then retired and moved to Lowell, Ark.
Vera was known as a beautiful, gentle, gracious, loving Christian woman with a sweet smile and spirit. She taught Sunday school and participated in church activities as long as health allowed. She read her Bible and lived her faith every single day. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker and loved to entertain. She cared deeply for her family and friends and found hundreds of ways to express her love. She inspired us all with the courageous, uncomplaining way she handled widowhood and multiple health problems.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Carla Dee Graham Wells and son-in-law (Wm.) Frank Wells of Odessa, Texas; grandson, Wesley Frank Wells of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter Melanie Dee Wells Pace and her husband Brent Lee Pace; great granddaughter Kaitlyn Dee Pace; and great grandson Travis Lee Pace of The Woodlands, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 4, 1995; her parents, and her brothers.
