Virginia Gayle Young

Virginia Gayle Young 84, of Odessa passed away on April 4, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Daughter of the late Clifford D. and Mary R Ward, she was born November 29, 1926 in Trumbell County, Ohio. she was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. She graduated from Mt. Gilead High School and achieved a diploma in nursing from Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. She completed he Bachelor of Science at Ohio State University and a Masters in Education from Kent State University. Virginia is survived by three daughters, Gayle Jean Beaty of Lakewood, Colorado, Shirley Young and Patty Salinas of Odessa, grandchildren; Jason, Jeremy, Jarod, Stephany, Elmer, Sadie, Chistopher, Grace, Fernando Juan, Victoria and Coraena and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister; Anna Mary Cronenwett of Sebring, Florida and Myra Jo Beach of Morgantown, West Virginia. She was proceded in death by her husband Harold Raymond Young and her brother William S. Ward and 2 great grandchildren. Virginia was a nurse for many years as well as being Director fo the Mid-Ohio Practical Nurse Program. She moved to Texas from Ohio in October of 1981. She enjoyed life and was very active with her family. Her favorite hobbies were reading, crocheting, bridge card games, baking cookies, candy and butterscotch pies. She was loved by her family and friends. She will be missed, but has a special place in heaven. She was a very caring woman and provided for her family all her life. A memorial service will be held on May 19, 2011 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, special arrangements will be made at a later time. Donation may be made to the American Cancer Society of the Trinity Methodist Church in her name.
