Wilma was born July 8, 1944 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was the fifth child born to Custer and Clara Kisinger in western Oklahoma.
In her early years, Wilma lived on Route 66 with her brothers and sisters while going to grade school in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She graduated from Henryetta Senior High School in Henryetta, Oklahoma in 1962. Wilma moved back to Weatherford for about a year before moving into an apartment in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.There she met and married Charles L. Watson and they had a son, Terry Wayne Watson.
In 1975 she met and married Robert (Bob) Wayne Chastain, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and they had a daughter, Tammy Wayne Chastain, making Terry a big brother. The family moved to Odessa, Texas in 1977 where they have lived for the past 42 years.
While living in Odessa, Wilma kept herself busy. She started off as a homemaker and then and ran a small business from home, Kustom Kards, making business cards. Next she was working at Odessa College while going to school where she obtained her Associate of Arts degree in 1992. Her biggest educational accomplishment was in 1994 when she graduated from UTPB with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Cum Laude. She was very proud of her education, being the only one in her family with a college degree. She continued to work for Odessa College in several areas including the Physical Plant, Continuing Education and finally as the Director of Distance Education before retiring in 2010.
Wilma loved to travel and did so as often as possible. She was lucky enough to continue traveling after numerous treatments and procedures for breast and skin cancer. Three years ago she was diagnosed with liver cancer but nothing ever slowed her down. After all possible treatments were unsuccessful, Wilma decided to enjoy life. She wanted to travel and spent six months of her life visiting the eastern half of the U.S. including the Pocono Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smokey Mountains. A stop was made at the family farm in Wainwright, Oklahoma for Thanksgiving, keeping up with the annual tradition. It was a five month long trip and her most enjoyable trip while suffering from terminal cancer.
Wilma was actively involved in the activities of her children and grandchildren not only as a supporter but as a volunteer as well. She was always the life of the party, never met a stranger, had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone. Wilma was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Wilma is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Custer and Clara Kisinger, and two brothers, Clyde Kisinger and Bud Kisinger.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Husband, Robert (Bob) Chastain of Odessa; Son Terry Watson and wife Suzanne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Daughter, Tammy and husband Wesley Anderson of Odessa; Sister, Shirley Cox of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Sister, Goldie Koch of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Sister-in -law, Sue Hicks of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Travis Watson, Reece Watson, Colten Anderson; her beloved Dog, Lucky of Odessa and four grand dogs. There is a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who love and miss her.
