Wilton Kermit Rose

He was born on December 11, 1933 in Gatesville, Tx., to Prince Albert “Dink” Rose and Eula Mae Rose. He was raised in Gatesville and Odessa, Tx. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1953- 1955. He married Rowena Boone, while still in the service on May 31, 1955 on the Camp Chaffee Army Base in Arkansas. Most of their 56 years of marriage was spent in Odessa, where they raised a thriving family and built two businesses together. He built and managed W.K. Rose Corporation Inc. as concrete contractor for 34 years and was the sole owner of Rose Storage. Due to his great love for county-western music , he established the Permian Playboys band in Odessa during the 60's and 70's. W.K. a loving father and grandfather, enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and hunting in Junction, Tx. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter; Lori Ellen Rose, sister; Katherine Deems and Doris Alexander W.K. is survived by his beloved wife Rowena Boone Rose of Odessa, his son; Richard Kermit Rose of Odessa, three granddaughters, Heather Garfinkle of Davie, Florida, Amber Otwell of Odessa, Mackenzie Rose of Odessa, two grandsons; Dustin Otwell of Buford, Georgia and Benjamin Rose of Odessa, brother in law ; Richard Boone of Arlington, sister in law Lorena Buster of Oglesby, Tx. . Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 23, 2011 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Pugh officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Restland cemetery in Gatesville, Tx.
