The celebration of life service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
After serving in the United States Army in 1968, Al, a lifelong cowboy, traveled the rodeo circuit, broke and trained horses, and worked as a steeplejack throughout the southeastern United States. He settled in Alabama in 1969. An entrepreneur at heart, he painted water tanks, owned a western wear business, and sold horse trailers. He moved to Oklahoma in 1977. Shortly after moving to Oklahoma, he went to work for General Motors where he worked until his retirement in 2006. He also operated a Chevy truck parts business and a lawn care business during that time.
Al wore an infectious smile and never met a stranger. His charisma caused him to make friends wherever he was. He was a man of many stories, some factual, others maybe not so much.
Al’s pickup bore the message, “Cowboy Up”. To him, it was not a phrase but a lifestyle. He exemplified the phrase. He was strong, courageous, and willing to make sacrifices for his friends and family, all without complaint. Al’s impact will be forever felt by his family and friends who love him dearly.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ellen; sons, Brandon and Bryan (of the home), and Greg (FL); daughters, Gina (OK), Debbie (NC), Lisa (AL), and Michele (AL); along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the hospice staff of Mercy Hospital for the dedicated care they provided Al during this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mercy Homehealth Hospice of OKC.
A memorial service for Albert will be held Monday, October 23, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
