Alice Ellaree George

Alice (Ellaree to her family and old friends) was born on September 11, 1925, to parents John Melmer and Helen Loraine Nelson in Clarita, Oklahoma.

She earned a bachelor's degree from East Central University in Ada and a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

Alice married Thomas Howard George in June 1950 and they had two children, Steven Thomas George and John Arthur George.

She taught school for 33 years, primarily early elementary education, and loved working with little children.

She enjoyed working in the garden and her flowerbeds, painting, sewing, and spending time in her pea gravel room, a shaded, breezy area where she placed chairs on pea gravel and spent many summer days. She loved early morning reading time and praying for her family.

Alice is survived by her oldest son Steven, his wife Rebecca Jean George of Stillwater, their three children and ten grandchildren, Alice’s daughter-in-law Linda Joann George of Chandler, TX, and granddaughter Jennifer Melissa Adams of Tyler, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Helen Nelson, husband Thomas, son John, four brothers; Sam, Glenn, Doyle, and Floyd Nelson, two sisters; Lorene Denson Olin and Maurine Arnold.

Graveside service and interment will be on March 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, OK with Pastor Will Harper officiating.
