When Kenneth went back to medical school, Alice went to work at OMRF as a research assistant to support the family.
Survived by her three children Linda Whittington, Nancy (Paul) Labadie, and Ken (Susan) Whittington. Alice is also survived by three grandchildren Sara (Brian) Kouhdari, Will (Lizzie) Labadie, and Alli Whittington along with five great grandchildren all whom were her pride and joy.
Alice served in a variety of family, church, and volunteer activities including Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, President of Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Sail and Power Squadron, Presbyterian Church Elder, Moderator of Indian Nations Presbytery, and a General Assembly delegate.
A talented seamstress, she made children’s clothes, doll dresses, and a variety of crafting projects. Perhaps her greatest service to our family was as Majordomo of the Whittington household. She was quiet and kind, yet direct, and valued by many for her vast knowledge. She was a reader and puzzle solver throughout her lifetime. Alice and her husband traveled extensively. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church and a lifetime member of Girl Scouts. She was honored by the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma Juliette Low Leadership Society as Honorary Luncheon Chair in 2017.
Alice’s memorial service will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel, 6600 Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City on Thursday November 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift in her memory to Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma, 6100 N Robinson Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
