Allan Gordon Muchmore, 61, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born on June 29, 1963, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold G. Muchmore, also of Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Muchmore, sister, Nancy Muchmore and her husband Jeff Goalen, of Edmond, his two brothers, Bruce Muchmore of Sussex, NJ, and Steven Muchmore, of Boston, MA, his niece Alexis Conner, nephews Gareth, Joshua, and Samuel Muchmore and Jonathan Goalen, and their families. Allan treasured his relationship with his stepson, Gabe Castro, his wife April, and their two children. Not to forget--his ever-faithful Australian cattle dog Rocko, who is a good boy.
Allan had a full life, filled with a variety of professional experiences. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to working in Minneapolis, MN, and serving as a surgical tech in Oklahoma City, his favorite profession was teaching middle school science, serving many years at The Catholic School of Saint Eugene in Oklahoma City.
Allan was a passionate sports fan. Raised in Oklahoma, having attended the University of Oklahoma, he was “Sooner born and Sooner bred” and never missed an OU football game, either attending games in Norman or opponents’ fields, or watching with unbridled enthusiasm their television broadcasts.
Ever the optimist, Allan was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Allan followed the Vikings and Cubs avidly and made many trips to watch their games in person. He was in his happy place in Vikings stadium or watching the Cubs from the famous bleachers of Wrigley field.
Allan was proud to be a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at OU and kept in touch with many of his Phi Delta Theta brothers over the years. He had an outstanding sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and could light up a room with his smile. His presence will be missed by all he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the University of Oklahoma general scholarship fund or planting a tree in his honor.
A memorial service will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral home at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025.
