

Arleen Georgia Lacy Manning, 92, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from natural causes. Arleen was born in Chicago, Illinois to George and Eleanor Wilson on October 21, 1921. Throughout her life, she lived in various places in the Chicago area, Champagne, Illinois, California and numerous places throughout Oklahoma. Arleen attended Senn High School and graduated at the top of her class. She also went to business college and studied at the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago. Throughout her long life, Arleen held many types of positions and most recently worked for New York Life Insurance as an administrative assistant until she retired in 1986. Arleen loved art and the theater and was in many plays in high school. She had a great passion for reading and often read a book a day. Arleen could speed read from the time she was a little girl. Arleen never read a mystery she didn't like! She was a long time member of IGAS (International Grapho-Analysis Society) and was Secretary and/or Treasurer for the local chapter for a number of years.
Arleen met Robert L. Lacy at a USO dance in Chicago and they married on June 30, 1945. They were married for 21 years until Bob passed away in 1967. Arleen and Bob had five children, Michael K. (Terrye) Lacy of Edmond, Oklahoma; Cheri Lacy (Robert) Palmer of Southlake, Texas; Wendy G. (John) Bell of Yukon, Oklahoma; Debra D. Lacy (Bill) Winkler of Edmond, Oklahoma and Teri L. (Mike) Swagerty of Cache, Oklahoma. Arleen had 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild from her first marriage.
On July 26, 1975, Arleen married Emery A. Manning and they were married for 24 years until he passed away in 1999. He had four daughters, Jeanette (George) Roberts of Bethany, Oklahoma; Gerri (Bon) of Big Spring, Texas; Ronna (Larry) Smith of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Linda (Don) Lawson of Midwest City, Oklahoma. From this marriage, there are 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition, Arleen leaves many extended family members and dear friends.
A service will be held at Guardian Funeral Home located at 5820 N.W. 41st St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 10th at 11:00a.m. Before the service, a breakfast will be served at 9:00a.m. at the funeral home for anyone who would like to attend. Pastor A.L. Swagerty will officiate the service. The burial will take place in Enid, Oklahoma at Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 81 after the service at 2:30p.m. Although there will not be a graveside service, all are welcome to come.
